Throughout this course I have learned many new things about being an Educational Assistant in the field. I have learned that my role and the responsibilities I have towards the students I work with extends beyond just how I help them in the classroom. I have become more informed of the laws that protect children and what my role as an EA is if I am ever faced with that kind of situation and what I need to do to help the student in question. I’ve also learned about the importance of things like personal branding and especially confidentiality because as EA’s we are privy to a lot of personal information about the students we work with so it’s important that we are sensitive to that (Giancola, 2017).
