ACCEPTING FEEDBACK

When it came time to fill out the midterm evaluation, my classroom teacher and I sat down to do that together so that we could discuss each question and have a conversation about how I was doing, what I was doing well and where I could improve. Naturally, I was a little nervous about this because I knew she would have some feedback and constructive criticism for me which can be a little uncomfortable to hear. I did feel a little embarrassed when she would mark me as satisfactory in some areas and when she would tell me the things she hadn’t really seen from me, like sharing my thoughts and ideas, taking more initiative and just communicating more. But it was actually a very helpful experience sitting down with her and having that conversation because she told me how I could improve in those areas and those suggestions were things I tried to keep in mind after. So, while hearing criticism can be difficult, it was constructive as she was trying to help me improve by pointing the areas where I could improve.
